Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

Diversity

Diversity refers to a range of differences among, and the intersectionalities between, a group of people, including but not limited to: race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, religion, disability, socio-economic status, country of origin, and political beliefs. GW Women in Business aims to broaden this definition to include students who pursue various career paths and are of different educational backgrounds. Embracing diversity means recognizing and celebrating these differences while promoting a culture of respect, understanding, and inclusion.

Equity

Equity refers to fairness and justice in the distribution of resources and opportunities. GW Women in Business strives to recognize and address systemic barriers that prevent some groups from accessing the same opportunities and resources as others. Equity involves creating practices and cultures that promote equal access, treatment, and outcomes for all students.

Inclusion

Inclusion refers to the ongoing active effort to intentionally create an environment in which all students feel valued, respected, and supported. It involves creating a sense of belonging and welcoming students from all backgrounds and identities. Inclusion requires active efforts to promote diversity and equity to create a culture of acceptance and openness.

Alongside the help of all GW Women in Business (GWWIB) executive board members, the Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion team strives to fulfill GWWIB's mission by cultivating a welcoming and safe environment for undergraduate students from all schools so that general body members may learn together, connect with one another, and build a community while growing in their career.
