Each spring we host our annual capstone event, the GWWIB Spring Conference, a professional gathering of women organized by students, for students. The Spring Conference started in 2010 to provide students an opportunity to learn more about different careers and industries. The daylong conference begins with a distinguished keynote speaker and speaker series, then leads into a series of workshops and industry focused panels. The conference hosts around 12 panels that range from finance to fashion.
This past year, our 8th Annual Spring Conference brought together over 400 attendees and more than 70 professionals across a variety of industries to network and encourage students to forge their own career paths. The 3 keynotes included Ruth Zukerman (Founder of FlyWheel and Co-Founder of SoulCycle ), Kristy Dickerson (CEO and Founder of STARTPlanner) and Margaret Ruvoldt (General Management and Business Process Executive for 2U).The event also featured a speaker series with talks from Jayne Sandman and Barbara Martin, CEOs of BrandlinkDC, Shizu Okusa, Co-Founder of JRINK, and Kevin O'Connell, Founder of FYN Creative & The Niche Movement. The panels hosted a collection of panelists from a diverse group of companies including: Nasa, Tradeweb, Deloitte, National Geographic, Ernst & Young, &pizza, Think Food Group, Hilton WorldWide, JCrew, Facebook, Amazon, and Empowered Women International, among many more.
Next year, we will host our 9th Spring Conference on April 7st, 2018 in Funger and Duques Halls on the GW Campus. Our organization's goal for the conference is to invite professionals to discuss their experiences and business insights with the next generation of GW business leaders. We want every person to end the day with the tools to practice courage in their careers. Each year we host a variety of specialized panels (including finance, fashion, media, event management) and several keynote addresses so that each attendee can enhance and shape their career interests at the conference.
