Each spring we host our annual capstone event, the GWWIB Spring Conference, a professional gathering of women organized by students, for students. The Spring Conference started in 2010 to provide students an opportunity to learn more about different careers and industries. The daylong conference begins with a distinguished keynote speaker and speaker series, then leads into a series of workshops and industry focused panels. The conference hosts around 12 panels that range from finance to fashion to food management.
This past year, our 9th Annual Spring Conference brought together over 350 attendees and more than 100 professionals across a variety of industries to network and encourage students to forge their own career paths. The 3 keynotes included Tara Abrahams (Executive Director of The Girl Project at Glamour), Kunal Mehta (Venture Investor with Hearst Ventures and author of Disruptors), Lauren Wilner (Vice-President of Women’s Fashion and Director of RTW+ and Beauty at Macy’s Inc.). The event also featured a speaker series with talks from Kim Jackson (Senior Director of Merchandising at Alex and Ani) and Cameron Hardesty (Head of Merchandising at UrbanStems). The panels featured speakers from a diverse group of companies including NASA, Tradeweb, Deloitte, National Geographic, ESPN, Whole Foods, IBM , SKIN&CO, Ernst & Young and Empowered Women International, among many more.
This year we will host our 10th Spring Conference on April 6th, 2019 in Funger and Duques Halls on GWU’s Campus in Washington, DC.
