SCES is a nonprofit organization of human-resources professionals who have placed hundreds of women that were victims of domestic violence into meaningful employment positions free of charge. We will be working with them in a number of different ways, and for this reason we will have a three different teams. If you are interested in this charity, you do not need to be a part of a team, but can just attend the monthly events.
Women’s Development Team- This group will go directly to the site and help train women from all backgrounds and levels of education. The group will use the skills they know, as well as the skills being acquired through GWWIB and personal experience in order to teach these women how to interview, write resumes, find contacts, etc. They will also contact SCES’s long list of employers to help the women find jobs. This is a great opportunity for those that want to find contacts for all different types of companies ranging from customer service, to pharmaceuticals, to hospitals, to finance positions etc.
Business Planning Team- SCES is attempting to expand their office from the one they have in DC (which includes over 400 volunteers) to areas in the rest of the country. The organization needs a group of determined women to help write a business plan for expansion. This includes finding offices, employees, volunteers, etc.
Public Relations Team- This team will be in charge of PR for SCES. They will try to get their name out to GW students and the public by speaking to writers and news reporters, as well as planning fund raising events. One of these events will include a gala fundraising party.
