School Without Walls: Mentorship Program

 


GWWIB has reached out to the School without Walls as part of our philanthropic mission. The School Without Walls is a charter high school located on GW's campus. Over the past two years, we have formed a mentoring program with girls from the school. Pairing GWWIB members up with SWW students based on mutual interests, this mentorship program grants GWWIB members the opportunity to get involved in the greater DC community and make a new friend, her mentee! Whether it's helping with college applications or getting ice cream at Coney Island after school, the SWW Mentorship Program fosters a wonderful experience of learning and friendship for all who are involved.

 

This year it's more important than ever, so kick off the winter
season by spreading some holiday cheer with GWWIB.

12/2 Bake Sale  
Philanthropy Bake Sale

Thursday, December 2nd
Time: 6:00pm - 8pm
Location: Ivory Tower
  • Volunteers needed for 1/2 hour shifts starting at 5:30 for set up.  
  • Let us know if you would like to bring a baked good!
  • We will need 10+ girls to bake, so sign up if you're interested.

*All proceeds will go towards purchasing gifts for Adopt A Family - This year we are supporting Malcom, Age 7, who lives in the greater Washington, DC area*
12/3 Adopt a Family

Friday, December 3rd
Time: 10:30am - 2pm

  1. 10:30am - Foggy Bottom Metro
  2. 12:30pm - South Hall Basement Study Area

  • Adopt A Family is a major program run by the Office of Community Service each year. The program helps provide families in need with essential items and some holiday joy during the winter season.

  • We will metro to the Target in Columbia Heights. We will then come back to campus at 12:30pm.

  • Gift wrapping and mingling over snacks & hot cocoa will take place until 2pm

12/5 Dodgeball for Darfur  

Dodgeball for Darfur

 

Sunday, December 5th
Time: 2-5pm
Location: HelWel

  • An awesome philanthropy tournament hosted annually by GW STAND!

  • In order to actively withhold our motto of "women helping women," we are excited to enter the a GWWIB Dodgeball Team this year!

  • The tournament will raise funds for Calling All Crows, a non-profit that aids women refugees in Darfur by mobilizing musicians to give back.
