I know that rolling out of bed at 9:15am for your 9:35 sounds like the ideal plan for your morning, but let me explain to you how waking up just 30 minutes earlier can turn your entire day around! But I’m not going to lie; you will probably still need that 3pm coffee.

Drink Hot Lemon Water

Drinking hot water with lemon first thing in the morning has many benefits, and it’s so simple!  Here are a few reasons why this is a great habit to pick up:

1.     Healthy Skin

Lemons have tons of Vitamin C, which is needed for the production of collagen; this helps keep skin appearing smooth and healthy (Now you can forget about that greasy pizza you may or may not have eaten last Saturday!)

2.     Rehydrate Your Body

Do you know all the benefits of electrolytes? They kick-start all thought and motion within your body and lemon water possesses them in the form of potassium, calcium and magnesium. Need I say more?!

3.     Immunity Boost

Another great advantage of getting your Vitamin C in the morning: it allows your body to absorb it effectively and fight off that cold year round!

Key to success #1: Keep cut-up lemons in your fridge to make this process even faster!

Key to success #2: Add ginger for a good source of antioxidants

Journal for 10 Minutes

We usually think of journaling as a way to recap your day, but this is about successfully setting up your day. Take this time in the morning to write down objectives that will keep you focused and motivated all day long. You don’t have to make these extravagant, but more realistic and attainable. I like finding an uplifting quote (or even just a simple word) that I relate to that morning and refer to it throughout the day when things are just not going my way.

Exercise

Working out at 8:30am does not sound appealing to any of us, but your body will thank you later. Aim for just 15 minutes of anything that gets your heart pumping—whether it’s running on the treadmill, lunges, jumping jacks, or sun salutations next to your bed, you can do it! Not only will you be less stressed throughout the day, you’ll benefit from a metabolism boost and a spiked appetite for a healthy breakfast.
